In today’s service for the Third Sunday in Lent we will hear an aria from Felix Mendelssohn’s great oratorio, “Elijah” (1846) with these words:
“For the mountains shall depart and the hills be removed, but thy kindness shall not depart from me; neither shall be removed the covenant of thy peace.”
