Motet Choir
Throughout our community’s history, the Motet Choir has been a treasure of the church. On Sundays from September through May, this ensemble of 50 singers presents a variety of choral masterworks, spirituals, new compositions, and religious standards, and leads the congregation in hymns. The Motet Choir has also performed major works with orchestra in venues beyond our walls, most notably at Carnegie Hall in 2016. For over 80 years, the choir has presented the annual Candlelight Christmas Concert, which has become a Muskegon holiday tradition. Membership requirements are a love of and dedication to singing, and either music reading or an ability to follow well. Interested in joining? Contact Dr. Michael Match.
Rehearsals: Wednesday evenings from 7:00 pm – 9:00 pm (September—May)
Choir Scholars
Within the ranks of the Motet Choir, we employ 4 singers of exceptional ability whose job is to lead their section and act as occasional soloists. Auditions are held in the late summer/early fall, or as positions are available.
Canterbury Ringers
Our Handbell Ensemble performs at various times of the year, including all major holidays and concerts, and has participated in masterclasses, workshops, and concerts around West Michigan. The group is comprised of 10 to 14 ringers.
Rehearsals: Tuesday evenings from 7:30 pm – 8:30 pm (September—May)
FCC Festival Brass
This ensemble has long played a lead role in our Christmas Eve Service of Lessons and Carols, as well as Easter Sunday, Memorial Day, and Independence Day celebrations. The group is comprised of a flexible number of players from 4 to as many as 16. FCC Festival Brass has delighted and inspired our community both as a featured ensemble and in their support of congregational singing. Rehearsals are arranged to the needs of the ensemble.
