May 18, 2023 – FCC received nearly a ton of canned goods for our Pantry from the Postal Workers’ collection. Judy Clark Ochs, Judy DeWall, and Joe Singerling began the sorting. Shirley and Dan Lawton do the final organization and distribution of the smoothest running Pantry you can imagine!
Coordinated through our partnerships with Love INC, Mission for Area People, and Feeding America, First Congregational Church operates a food pantry for our neighbors in need. Most Tuesday afternoons you will find a wide variety of food items distributed by volunteers to folks in need of assistance. Feeding America makes food available to our FCC Food Pantry at low cost, and we are able to give this food to those who need it through generous donations from people and organizations in our community.
Our neighbors can contact Love INC or Mission for Area People during normal business hours and speak with one of their trained volunteers. They go over some needs assessment questions and are scheduled a pantry visit as needed until they can get back on their feet. Our pantry volunteers and partners do an amazing job of providing for the needs of our neighbors. Each person receives approximately one week’s worth of pantry food and sometimes, when available, will also receive freezer items such as meat, butter, and bread.
